The HIPAA Survival Guide attempts a "forest from the trees" overview of the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules, and also includes a general overview of the HITECH Act as it pertains to these rules.
We chose to write about these rules from a practical perspective because the Obama administration's push for electronic health records (EHRs) will shine a new light on HIPAA compliance. This effort began as a tool for our own use and we subsequently decided that the community at large might benefit as well.
